Science Day

We had our first Open Day of the year today - Year 12 Science Day, to coincide with the Cambridge Science Festival. 69 eager (well some of them!) 17 year-olds turned up for a talk on applying to Cambridge, a mini-lecture by an experimental psychologist, Q&A with current science undergrads, tour of the College, lunch, and then off into town for the afternoon to see/listen to/participate in various activities in the Science Festival.
It went pretty well, but it's always quite tiring: "Can I be in the same group as my friend?" "I know I said I was interested in Engineering, but now I've changed my mind - can I go in the group with the medical student?" etc etc
Anyway, nobody got lost (as far as I know), and they all seemed to have had a good time.
This morning it was sunny and even quite warm, but when it clouded over this afternoon it was back to winter chill.

Cambridge Science Festival stuff is here: http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/sciencefestival/
One of our undergrads came back saying "It was really sweet seeing little five year-olds doing stem cell biology" ...

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
