School reunion

I have been to a reunion this weekend for those of us who left my girls' school in Nottingham 40 years ago last summer. We last got together 10 (or 11) years ago, organised by three of our number who still live in Nottingham. They managed to contact about 100 people, and 55 of us turned up.

This time the school organised it, it was all a bit last minute, and there were only 22 of us there. Nevertheless, it was good fun - we had drinks and very posh canapes and went on a tour of the school. Before that, we all sat round in a circle in the new sixth form centre and said who we were, what we were doing (and had done since leaving school), and where we were living.

Afterwards, some of us went to J's house for tea and cake. Then a few more departed and the remaining 7 had supper at J's. 2 more left (to drive back to N Yorks) and J and the rest of us took R back to her B&B in the city centre and had a little drive round.

This morning, C left about 9am to drive back to Reading, and J, S and I went for a walk in Wollaton Park before going our separate ways.

Fascinating to catch up and hear news of friends of friends, as well as those who turned up. We agreed it would be good to get together again sooner than 10 years from now ...
