Went to a lunchtime talk at the Fitzwilliam Museum yesterday. Absolutely fascinating - it was in connection with the opening of the newly refurbished Greek & Roman galleries, and was about the technical aspects of conserving the objects. A friend of mine has a two-year contract to work on this and she was giving the talk - it focussed on a case study of a sarcophagus she has restored. All about how they work out what restoration has been done in the past, and then how they repair cracks etc (with a special kind of Japanese tissue paper impregnated with glue). Had to rush back for a meeting at the end of the talk, but will definitely be going in to look at the sarcophagus itself as soon as possible.
And today we had the joys of being featured in the Daily Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1248487/Students-girl-Cambridge-college-sent-email-asking-quieter-having-sex.html
The Senior Tutor emailed me to ask if the Admissions Office had planted the story to boost applications!
