h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Had the day off work today, and it was a beautiful sunny day, and not very cold.

The main reason for the day off was to wait in for somebody from the local electrical shop to come and give me a quote for a new fan heater in the bathroom; the one that was put in when the flat was built 15 years ago is showing its age by emitting a strong smell of burning. I suspect everything is going to start giving up now, as the washing machine is also behaving in a slightly dodgy manner.

Anyway, after the electrician had been, I made the most of the day by having a wander round town, and going to the cinema in the afternoon - cheaper rates and always feels slightly decadent! I'd been meaning to see Slumdog Millionaire for a week or two, and finally made it today. Very impressive film, with fantastic images of Mumbai which stick in your mind. Definitely not 'feelgood' which is how the posters describe it, even though the ending is happy(ish). The final set-piece at the credits is great but schmaltzy.
