Drenched and squeezed

By mid-morning today it was bright and sunny, and we were all saying 'Huh, the weather forecast was wrong again!'. No, it wasn't.

Left the office at 3pm as I had an appointment for a routine mammogram at 3.36pm (talk about precision timing!), and felt a few drops of rain as I crossed to the porters' lodge, so I stopped there to put on my waterproof trousers. By the time I'd cycled to the end of the road it was absolutely chucking it down, and this continued all the way to the village Park and Ride where the mobile mammography unit was parked. Needless to say I was drenched by the time I got there, and the receptionist had to find a plastic bag for me to sit on in the waiting area. Had to empty water out of my shoes. I complained a bit that the site was not nearly as convenient for me as the T*sco carpark where I had had previous appointments, and was told that T*sco had decided to build on it, so it was no longer available. Another reason to hate T*sco.

Anyway, had the sandwich toaster treatment on the boobs, and set off home. Stopped for a coffee and cake (I deserved a treat!) in the next-door W**tr*se, hoping the rain might slacken off. No such luck.

Have just got home and removed wet clothes, soaked down to underwear. I *knew* I should have bought some new waterproof trousers when they started leaking last year, but thought they might last a bit longer! Will now have a cup of tea and soak my feet to remove the black shoe-dye from my toenails!

Now expecting $quigs to appear and complain how dry her garden is - even though it's only in the next village to where I was this afternoon!

I'm getting lots of images off this entry...

Hope the cake made up for it.

Wash your mind out with soap and water, Douglas!

[Are you channelling Leggsy by any chance?]

Soap and water ain't required - I was refering to 'sandwich', 'coffee', 'cup of tea' and 'cake'. What did you think I meant?

Commiserations Annie - takes a powerful imagination [of sorts] to turn the tale of thoroughly miserable afternoon into an ecstasy of carbohydrate and caffeine!¬)
