Came back at lunchtime from a couple of days away at my sister's to find the bathroom carpet very soggy. Phoned the property management people, then the maintenance contractor, who - bless him! - sent his site manager round within a couple of hours. Discovered there was a leak from the bottom of the cistern, merrily trickling away. It has now been repaired. I have a nasty feeling that this is the year when everything starts to wear out, as I have been in the flat 14 years. Anyway, I didn't have to pay anything up front - he said they would work something out with the bill for the refurbishment of the bathroom, due to start week beginning 7 April.
Had a good time over Easter, apart from the cold. Ate and drank far too much, especially on Sunday (roast lunch at the pub, bangers & mash at my sister's in the evening, with her neighbours also invited).
It was my birthday yesterday. Feel a bit old to be celebrating, but we did have cake at teatime.

Many happy returns for yesterday, Annie.
Really feel for you with the plumbing. Won't bore you but .. stained ceilings, re-plastering and dry rot are frequent housemates in an old converted building.

I'm sure that's true, pj, but had hoped to avoid most of them by living in a new-build. Trouble is, that was 14 years ago, and now it's not so new ...

Thanks for the cake and stuff everyone!
Leak is now repaired, but it's just a bit annoying having to get it done just two weeks before I have the whole bathroom re-done!
Key: Complain about this post
