Yesterday lunchtime I went to meet Eilis in front of King's College. It was a beautiful sunny day - Cambridge looking at its best. Eilis had come (with OH and Youngest Snowflake) to visit Middle Snowflake who is at university here. MS arrived shortly after I did - as she is doing Natural Sciences, she had had lectures and a supervision on Saturday morning. She went off with her dad and sister, while Eilis and I went for lunch and a good chat. It was lovely to see her again.
After lunch I did a bit of shopping - found the next book group book (The Kite Runner) in the Oxfam shop - and went home. My sister arrived at about 5pm and we had a brief look at the cinema programmes before deciding that there was nothing on that both of us were really keen to see, so we stayed at home with an Indian takeaway and a bottle of wine.
This morning my regular Sunday lunch friend came over at 10.30 and we drove out to Waterbeach (on the way to Ely) for a walk along the towpath. Unfortunately it was cloudy today and rather cold, so we didn't stay out too long. We had phoned to see if the pub nearby did Sunday lunches and had been told that they didn't take bookings and that there was usually a queue of 70 to 100 people when they opened at 12 - no sign of a queue when we went past at 11.45, but maybe they all arrive at the last minute! Anyway we came back into Cambridge and went to our usual pub for a Sunday roast and glass of wine.
In the afternoon my friend went off to the cinema with her granddaughter (they were going to see Walk the Line) and my sister and I went shopping for an outfit for her to wear at a conference dinner she is attending next week. Found a nice sparkly top which she can wear with black trousers or a skirt. Then we came home and had a cup of tea before she left.
Oh - nearly forgot! We also downloaded skype onto my computer while she was here, so now we can talk to each other without using the phone(and hopefully also to my friends in Canada, and to my niece, who now has broadband on her narrowboat).
While I've been typing this, a whole lot of fireworks were going off in the neighbourhood - don't know what they are about ...

Broadband on a narrowboat! Huh! I can't even get a normal telephone line in my flat!
Telkom are ABSOLUTELY &^@%$&@ USELESS.
I have been told to get firm with them. But I'm not a very assertive person.
