Managed to leave work on time on Friday (first time this week I was out of the office before 6.00pm) and with the first phase of the photocopying of applications finished, thanks to a very efficient temp! Celebrated by stopping off for coffee and cake at the Picturehouse cafe on the way home.

While in the supermarket on Saturday morning, I ran into the guy who used to cut my hair ages ago. We had a chat and I could see him checking out my current 'look', if it can be dignified with that description! I asked him if he was working anywhere nearby and it turns out that he is semi-retired, but still does cuts for some of his former customers, either at his place or theirs. I got his phone number instantly, and hope that my bad hair problems may soon be over!

Then went on to my friend E's house. She had sanded down her pine dining table and was about to apply a second coat of varnish, so after we'd had a cuppa, she got on with that, while I stayed and chatted, to keep her company. We discussed goings-on in TA ... interesting that there are so many parent-child plots all at once (Em/Ed/Will/George, Kate/Brian, Kate/Roy/Phoebe, Brian/Ruari), and we wondered if/how they are all going to interrelate.

Next stop town, where amazingly, I found just the right jacket to go with some trousers I'd bought a few weeks ago, so snapped it up immediately and was delighted to find that it was actually £10 cheaper than I'd thought.

And today I've been to London, with my calligraphy teacher and some people from the class he runs in Huntingdon (no-one else from the Cambridge class turned up), to look at the manuscripts on display in the British Library and do some practice, copying bits of them. It was great fun, and we had a snack in the cafe afterwards and discussed the work we'd done.

Slightly depressing that it was pitch dark so early this evening, but there *was* a beautiful sunset first, so maybe it will be a nice day tomorrow.

Evening Annie.

I had a look at your bob in the lockin... Seems all right to me. Mine is shorter now and shorter in the future probably. "C'est plus jeune" the lady said, and there's no gainsaying this, is there. I do hope you come to Paris some time...

Well if E.Yore's planned meet next April gets off the ground, there's a strong possibility that I'll be there!
