Today I met Eilis!
She had brought her middle daughter to Cambridge to start her course, accompanied by eldest daughter, who is about to start her third year at Oxford. OH and youngest daughter were arriving to join them later this evening.
Eilis came to my college to meet me when I finished work at 4pm, and we went to have a coffee at the University Centre, which has a nice view over the river near Silver Street bridge - from the top floor cafe, you can see Darwin College, part of Queens', the Mathematical Bridge and the tower of the University Library.
We had a good chat, and then she went off to join her family at the hotel - this evening they're having dinner at a restaurant which I've heard is very good, but never been to, so I'll be interested to hear her verdict.
It was lovely to meet her - and I'm also looking forward to the meet in three weeks' time. There are about 16 people planning to come.

I wish I could get to the Cambridge mini-meet, but unfortunately there's no chance. ED is going to USA on 8th, O/H is off to Japan on business on 21st, so there's only me to take YD to swimming lesson on that day. O/H went to Cambridge uni, and I'd love to have a proper look round - we've only been there on a brief visit, many years ago, before YD's arrival.

Hello, Annie
I've just looked in briefly to say, Hello! and thanks for the hospitality on Friday. I intend to post a fuller account of our time in Cambridge when I have a moment.

If you ever make it to Cambridge for a weekend or day visit, do get in touch - if I'm around I'm always happy to act as tourist guide!
