They have completely screwed Hootoo.
I asked Turner nicely to write me an emulation, a request he ignored.
Now I have to put up with this horrendous new look site.
Oh well. Today my 2008 Elonex Webbook bit the dust. I've been thinking about upgrading my netbooks for a while; now, I am forced to. Presently using the spare Webbook.
So it's off to Somerset West I think, that's the place where they have the greatest range of Netbooks, or used to.
In the meantime it's Sisanda on the radio. She is a sweetheart.

This is dreadful. I am constitutionally agin change, and change for change's sake is wicked Socialism. I don't know how many dear people read this Journal but if there weren't any readers I would stop doing my Journal and consider a different blogsite. This is too too much. They have BROKEN HOOTOO. I am outraged and disgusted in equal measure.

Blimey! FW de Klerk has said apartheid was morally indefensible, but he said he liked the Homeland (Bantustan) system. People are outraged. Je ne dis rien.

Before I go and buy a new, fast Netbook (which I have to do anyway), I'm going to try to wipe my old Netbook's mind with Lucid, or another Linux, this time perhaps one designed for Netbooks. The old one was getting slower and slower until it became highly irritating to use; this one is faster. Clearly the OS got corrupted somewhere along the line. Hard drive failure? I don't know. So I shall try to re-install Linux, probably Lucid, from a disk and see how that goes.

Well actually my cup runneth over a bit ... as the above entry shows, I can write in Hebrew, Polish, Greek, whatever language I please, even those with non-Latin alphabets! Result! This is fantastic.

I can officially report that the old Netbook has finally and conclusively bitten the dust. Time for a new one then. I was thinking of upgrading the hardware anyway so that I can Skype in here. Will do that perhaps tomorrow, perhaps Monday.

It was a bonny day today. Unfortunately the weather monitor on this machine doesn't work. I could always reinstall Lucid. Speed doesn't appear to be a problem with this Netbook; the one that died this morning had been getting slower and slower for some time. It probably needs a new hard drive, but it's a UK machine and I need a Netbook fast enough to run Skype in the smoking-room.
Gwa-Zulu Nadal, apparently.

Woofti
Just to confirm that I am still an intermittent follower of yours and Pete's journals.
I used to find you both by following a link posted yonks ago by (I think) Katy Tulip and entitled Mustardland Mustering Station. Then a few days ago it vanished and was replaced by a particularly patronising message saying "Well I'm stumped".
I seem to have tracked it (MMS) down again though but it looks nothing like the old pages.
While I'm here I'll just say that I'm glad you're doing what you're doing now. It was quite apparent that all was not well with you and you owe it to yourself (and Jinksy....) to try to sort things out. None of my business, I know, but I am concerned and hope you won't be offended/outraged (insert appropriate emotion....).
Anyway - I hope it all works out and look forward to good news.
Furfles to Jinksy.

Tomorrow is the first anniversary of my purchasing Shem Elohim. I ought to mark the occasion somehow. It's not quite finished yet; I need to finish the Afternoon Room and the Smoking Room, and have the bathroom painted (I thought orange and yellow).

Thanks Portia. Glad you managed to follow the magic trail! Thanks for the wishes, no you have caused no offence, I'm taking one day at a time. Today was pretty hairy but I appear to have survived it and that's good. Off to bed soon I think. Have a good night.
Key: Complain about this post
