It looks like it's going to be another glorious day. Maybe today I'll get out into the sunshine rather than sitting in front of the computer all day.
Slightly Foxed, a poster in Mustardland, has been steadily producing parodic alternative scripts of TA. They are brilliant, quite brilliant.
I have just written, and deleted a long rant about Lizelle. I am FURIOUS with her, because she told me she would bring chilli sauce to Stellenbosch, and has broken her word, twice.
I am assuaging my anger by reading from the book of Proverbs.

Oh deary me ......................
I know it's no use saying that it's only chili-powder! I appreciate that the main problem is that she broke her promise, twice.
However ..........................
Whilst I am not unsympathetic ~ is there any way that you could perhaps use something else for your curry? I seem to remember that someone very kindly posted a link either yesterday or the day before ~ indicating new & innovative curry ingredients??
I hope you can forgive Lizelle ~ who knows what she perhaps has to deal with in her life?? Also ~ perhaps there's something jollier than Proverbs which you could read ~ or could you do something completely different ..............?
Cheers, Misty x
p.s: Well at least you haven't run out of T E A !!!!

Hey, keep it in perspective - it's chilli sauce, she's doing you a favour and has a business and her private life to run. If you're that desparate for it go & collect it or arrange for it to be posted to you.
For a long term solution why not go & buy some chilli seeds, pots and compost and get growing them yourself then you can experiment to produce your own chilli sauce

Thanks Misty
I have forgiven Lizelle. Still don't know how to get hold of more of that sauce though.
However, you wrote "only chilli sauce".
"ONLY chilli sauce"???
!!!
Misty, this is not any old chilli sauce, I can assure you. It is, in the words of Monty Python, a chilli sauce fit for Jehovah himself. This is the chilli sauce we'll have in the Afterlife, or as close to it as we shall ever get in this life.
I think possibly Lizelle herself doesn't realise how righteous her chilli sauce is. If she did, she wouldn't keep it from me. Or maybe she's playing hard to get with her chilli. Maybe she thinks if I am made to wait a bit, I will appreciate it all the more. She may have a point.
I was going to shoot through to CT this morning to get it from her directly, on the principle that if the chilli won't come to me, I'll go to the chilli. However I was waylaid this morning, and it's already past 3 o'clock - too late for me to drive to town now.
I may go through tomorrow. Henry's parents are complaining that I haven't been round to see them for a while, so perhaps I'll go and visit them on the way to the Waterfront.

Hi Jane
Yes I see I did over-react a bit.. but still, she did say she'd be here on Friday, didn't show, I had to phone her, then she said she'd be here Monday or Tuesday at the latest, and didn't show then either. If she can't come through, she shouldn't have offered to deliver in the first place.
Also I defrosted some chicken livers specially. Still I expect they'll keep in the fridge for another day or two. I won't take Lizelle at her word any more - but I will go through probably tomorrow and get it from her then. I can visit the Motolwanas in the same trip.

I don't want to sound harsh on Chilli Mama ... it's just that she offered to bring the stuff, because, she said, she comes through here every week anyway, for her bottles and jars. It would be a matter of 10 minutes' extra drive to get from where I presume she gets the bottles from, to me and back.
This thing of businesspeople saying they'll pitch and not pitching is a typically South African phenomenon, as I have remarked before. It's the one thing I can't get used to. When I was getting quotes for the paving job, I phoned several people, and two of them just didn't pitch. I think that's ill-mannered. Even if Chilli Mama had pressing reasons for not coming, all she had to do was pick up the phone and let me know not to expect her. As I said though, it's standard practice here for people to do this.

Talk about perspective... poor Lil' Elsa has been hit by a car and is badly injured.
Oh, it's horrible when that happens to animals, whom we traditionally think of as "dumb" and unable to comprehend the suffering they go through. However I do believe that the Lord Jesus is Creator, Lord and Friend of all the animals as well as us people, and my faith tells me that our gentle Lord has divine comforts to give all his poor defenceless suffering creatures.
That doesn't stop us grieving though.

Exclude me out of your "we", Dagesh. I am an animal, as are you. You would do well to remind yourself of that on regular occasions.
Apart from that, I at last spy a little humanity in you. This is encouraging. Keep at it mate.. one day you might get there.

ps: I do hope that you took the time out to read the whole of that page-link I directed you to. It will do you good, imo.
pps: If you wanted to brush up on your logic - particularly as regards to debating, then you would do well to read one of the other pages on that site: http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/mathew/logic.html - at the very least it will help you avoid being criticised for using one of the fallacies listed. It may also help you understand "normal" logic too. (I will admit that I have never fully read that page myself)

Well I was referring to the phrase "dumb animals" which is part of the language.
Anyway thanks for that. I do need to improve my thinking skills, and I'm very grateful for those links. I will do my best, but I've got to confess that logic and those fallacies etc have always stumped me. I see a strong distinction between theology (which comes naturally to me) and philosophy, which is almost totally opaque to me.
The difference has been recognised throughout the history of the Church. Tertullian, that brilliant, fiery Christian apologist of the early Church, asked "What has Jerusalem to do with Athens?" and that question is still valuable today.
There is a wide range of different answers in the church to this question.
I'm also pleased that you discern a faint glimmering of humanity in me - it's a sign of hope!

Re "Dumb animals" - for the record, I don't agree with this either. Animals are not dumb, as anyone who has ever lived with a dog or a cat will testify.
(Thinking of Lil' Elsa and her anxious carers...)
