They said : Who will take care of the kids? They said: She's too pretty to have any brains. They said : How can a woman deal with foreign policy? They said : She's not married to the father of her children. They said : She has a foul temper.

And yet. This week might be a historic turning point in French history (forgive the purple prose) is enough French voters finally decide to vote for a woman.
I can't wait!

B. and I will be counting the votes next Sunday evening in the village.

martine! What a delight for a lunchtime lurker.

The British press aren't quite sure what to make of the French elections this time. At least with Le Pen they had an obvious angle with a built-in superior stance [not entirely warranted] that 'it could never happen here'. Yet the vox pop items on serious news have compared the ballot with the new dawn sensation we had here in 1997 with the difference that Major and Blair were both Mr Nice while debate here is focused on which of S&S is the most difficult character. Haven't seen much on foreign policy projections or the effect on EU integration: it's all economics and temperament.

[There was a thread some weeks ago started by Alex on Ségo v Sarko but it missed the usual political pundits.]

Hope you are blooming in the sunshine. We have lilac everywhere but not enough rain for the authentic after shower scent effect.

Best wishes.

Hello Martine, welcome back - we've been missing you. Michty, but there hasn't half been a lot of water under the bridge since you last posted...

Anyhow, it's good to hear from you and here's hoping you have something to celebrate next Sunday/Monday.

Douglas (equally hoping that he has something to celebrate this Thursday/Friday.)

Eeek correction: "which of S & S is the MORE difficult character." Dear me.

[Errr Douglas lots of water under the bridge.. and a great stream of Julias too.]
