They're roughly round, fairly flat and heavy (being unleavened). The sweet bread is a beautiful golden colour, dimpled with the hazlenut pieces; whereas the more crumbly barley bread is a deeper, musty brown.

Don't know if it's any help, but they would normally be cooked on a hot stone next to a fire. The grain itself would have been ground by hand on a quernstone. Hope this is of some use!
