Actually, Tuscaloosa, Alabama was the first capital of the Confederacy, not Birmingham. Other than that it was a pretty good article in this semi-redneck's opinion.

That didn't sound right to me either, so I googled around a bit and I found more evidence to suggest Montgomery, Alabama was the first capital.

Sorry, wrong capital. You're right, it was Montgomery.
