Michelle has signed to topline cabler’s original movie "The Dive From Clausen’s Pier," based on the bestselling novel by Ann Packer. Con Artists, the TV arm of Mel Gibson’s Icon Prods., and Fox TV Studios are producing. Bruce Davey, Nancy Cotton and Brenda Friend exec produce.
Project tells the coming-of-age story of a small-town woman’s journey of self-discovery after her fiance suffers a serious accident. Production begins in April. John Wierick wrote the script to be directed by Harry Winer.
"Dive" reps Trachtenberg’s first adult role -- a marked departure from previous projects "Eurotrip" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
"Michelle is at a very interesting moment in her career. She really wanted to branch out with this movie," Lifetime longform chief Trevor Walton said.

Ice Princess has received average reviews except for Trachy who has consistently won the available cudos for her part. An example below:
"Though oddly billed third, it's Michelle Trachtenberg's dependable performance that carries "Ice Princess" for the entire running time. Trachtenberg is an unquestionably natural on screen presence, and she gives the material an honest reading, restraining herself from giving in to the melodramatic moments of the screenplay, but still fully aware that this is a G-rated affair for Disney. Trachtenberg knows what to give to the camera, whether it's WB style silliness in the film's conventional teen party sequence, or steely-eyed determination for the skating set pieces, which, through her own abilities and the magic of special effects, she sells incredibly well. "Ice Princess" is nothing without Trachtenberg's performance, for she is the glue that holds the film together when the drama gets to be cyclical, when the camera-work creeps into "NYPD Blue" territory, and when Disney decides to include Bjork's "It's Oh So Quiet" on the soundtrack, but has someone else sing it. Those are pretty big cinema sins that Trachtenberg has to compensate for."
It took $7 million at the first weekend box office...An average return, but this movie will recoup on DVD and TV rights. All the disney productions are designed for longevity not flashy openings.

Thanks DR Ferris.
It's gonna be weird seeing her all grown up in her new movie!
I saw some pictures of her in Ice Princess and she looks gret in that.

Michelle is at No 10 in the US box office ratings, ahead of films like John Travoltas latest offering. 18 milllion is not super special, The Grudge took 40 million in its first weekend, but it will be good enough to keep her in the frame if she chooses her future projects wisely and does not get too self indulgent.
10. "Ice Princess," Disney, $2,749,671, 1,802 locations, $1,526 average, $18,753,334, three weeks.

Quote from another revue of Ice Princess:
Trachtenberg is fantastic in the role of Casey. This fine young actress started out as a child star and later achieved a measure of fame as Buffy’s little sister on the TV series "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer." But this is the movie that will make her a household name.
She is almost swanlike in her beauty as she glides over the ice, and thanks to great photography it is difficult to find scenes where she does not appear to be doing her own skating.

From what I read she did everything up to the triple salco! No, all the plain skating was done by her but they had an expert for the jumps.
