Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

Hey Mags,

Good Entry! I spotted a few punctuation and grammar issues that I don't have time to go through right now... but apart from that a good, informative read.

Try not to get too smiley - bruised!

Hi Mags,

A couple of points for us non-BMX fans:

smiley - biroWhat does 'catch air' mean?

smiley - biroWhat does BMX stand for?

I was wondering - what makes these tricks more dangerous than others? What criteria are you judging them by - the most injuries caused, the most likely to go wrong, or the risk of injury if you get it wrong, or something else I haven't thought of?

When you say 'a special type of person' could you elaborate on this at all?

A good Entry on something I would have never considered myself. smiley - applause

Hi Mags, a big welcome to h2g2 and Peer Review smiley - biggrin

I really like your piece, it explains very clearly how these three manoeuvres are attempted. That is not so easy to do - so smiley - ok well done!

There are a few minor edits that I'd like to suggest

smiley - biro tricks have gotten bigger and better

----> tricks have become bigger and better

(we use British English in the Guide and 'gotten' is US English)

smiley - biroYour link to "BMX riding" doesn't seem to be working

smiley - biro asphault -----> asphalt

smiley - biro recognize ----> recognise (British English again smiley - smiley)

smiley - biro incessant need to catch air

I love this phrase! smiley - bigeyes I guess it means to leap into the air? Maybe a footnote here? Then I can impress my grandsons with some new terminology, as I am often forced to watch BMX footage on TV when in their company.

smiley - biro many. many injuries. ----> many, many injuries.

(typo: replace full stop with a comma)

smiley - biro the 360 is done by a rider when [he comes off the ramp and throws] their weight to one side or another, spinning their bike a full 360 degrees

---->
the 360 is performed by a rider when coming off the ramp, throwing their weight to one side or another and spinning their bike a full 360 degrees

. . . and thanks once more for submitting this to Peer Review!smiley - cheers

Deadangel - Still not dead, just!

Vip:

Catching air is indeed jumping the bike.

BMX stands for Bicycle Motocross, as stated at the end of the first paragraph.

Mags, you mention a no footer, but not a backflip? Surely that's only more dangerous, in the total number of injuries. Although, I wouldn't want an ice cream any more than a face plant.

Is there any trick which looks really dangerous but is actually mostly harmless (somehow the opposite of the No Footer)? If so, would you consider including it?

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

Hi Mags,

Are these *the* three most dangerous tricks or just three *of* the most dangerous tricks?

From your description, I can't see the difference between The 360 and The Tail Whip, can you explain them further? Or am I being dense?

In a 360, rider AND BIKE do a 360 degree horizontal spin. In a tailwhip, rider and handlebars carry on in a straight line facing forwards, and just the back wheel, pedals, chain and frame do a 360 beneath them.

Are these three tricks really more dangerous than a backflip, a flair?

This would be the perfect entry to link to a video. For instance, for a DOUBLE tailwhip, check out the very first move in this:

Sorry to nitpick but the number 3 should probably be 'Three' in the title, and a 'The' in front might also be good. smiley - smiley

But "Three Most Dangerous BMX Tricks" is also correct, isn't it?

I would add a (brief) paragraph about the safety clothing/equipment that BMX riders wear.

On reflection, I would say that if you changed the title to "The 3 Most Dangerous BMX Tricks", then it would be factually incorrect. Adding "The" changes the meaning *completely*.

Thing is, you have to pronounce this title right to understand it. Specifically, you have to pronounce the word "most" as does Keanu Reeves in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure".

I agree that "three most dangerous tricks" is a better* title than "the tree most dangerous...".

* more factual, and using a pleasant phrasing.
