There's often not much to do on weekends. Or rather, there's often not much to do on weekend-weekends. Weekday-weekends are different. Confusing. For instance, I've done nothing this weekend, not even much thinking. Yet recently on a weekday-weekend I met my mother for coffee. Her hair was a strange colour and she had little television screens on her fingernails. We talked about wallpaper.

I say recently but good time-sense is something I've always seemed to lack. My days are stuttering. There are gaps. There are no holidays as such, unless you count those inside bubbles. Which I do. They're my version of mini-breaks. Glass of lemonade on a cloud, a peppermint on the beach.

I wonder what's going to happen this week. The doctor's over with now, thankfully. I don't think the Monitor will come back yet. I'd like to read for most of the week. That's why the Project wiped all of my books. There's always the library but I don't feel comfortable reading there. If I bring a book home it will be wiped like the others.

My time isn't my own. That's why I don't have a very good sense of it. My time is the Project's. My books (lack of) are the Project's. Now, peering out through these eyes, I don't feel bitter, but it's not always like that.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
