I've just had a terrific weekend. My feet are sore but it was great to be outside, enjoying the scenery, the fresh air and the company of people who were strangers to me before the weekend.
The walk passed through some of the most beautiful areas of Ireland. We travelled from Caherdaniel to Sneem on Friday; from Sneem to Kenmare on Saturday and from Kenmare to Killarney on Sunday. Most of it was off road and the conditions could not have been better. A small rain shower on Friday and cloudy conditions with very light winds every day.
Even so, the walks were long and my feet were killing me by the time we finished. I have rarely been so eager to have a pint..
I'm going to be posting photos up on my blog over the coming days so feel free to drop by and take a look.

Sounds like a long and lovely walk to me! It also sounds like the weather was just right for it!
I'll try to sneak a peek at your photos from home at some point.
How much distance did you travel?

Hi PC,
It was a 45 mile walk over three days. The middle day was 19 miles long, and the last day was 18 miles through the mountains.
I have a ton of photos - choosing which ones to show are the most difficult!

Not bad! Especially the last bit through the mountains. Well done!
I think I did a 16-mile walk in Michigan once (which would've been a lot more enjoyable if not for 100°-plus weather and mad biting flies), and walking through pretty scenery hardly seems like work at all, does it? Don't know if I could have managed to do three consecutive days though- I'm impressed!

I'm pretty happy with myself. We all felt we had achieved something yesterday. It was kind of strange - you started looking at other people and thinking of them as "civvies".
There were 60 year old women with us on the walk that practically sprinted to the end-line. This age thing is really overrated.
Key: Complain about this post
