I will keep my message short. I have been typing too much as "reply" posts to people's journals.

Also, I will only be posting my story from now on. I have to do this because I am a debater. As a debater, I present another perspective to consider or (as another action) I make a retort. I do get into fights, like my father (and this does not imply that he is a bad man), by debating with people.

I, one time, debated with brother when I shouldn't have. I do misread people's moods. When my brother said, "Leiann, the greenhouse effect is premanently changing the seasons... [and he was going to add more]." I started a debate with him by saying, "The seasons are always changing. On a geological scale, long-time seasons (according to our perspective) have changed... [and I was going to say more]." But I pissed him off, and he said that I didn't try to listen to him. He was right, and I later apologized.

Thanks for your message. People should "debate" - all our schools and universities have Debating Societies where people (presumably) sit around and discuss things. I think it is interesting to hear what other people think, but so many people will not even try to understand other people's points of view. I think this is important and we should never lose sight of the fact that we are not always right, and there is always something new we can learn however old we are.

Thanks for agreeing with me. I actually had a dream in which I was reading your "reply" to my recent message to you, and it read:

Oh I don't want to get involved with that!

Okay, I should talk to you in another time when the issue has quietened down.

As I dreamt this, I frowned. I then worried that this dream was actually a premonition. However, I then suspected (when I was awake) that I only dreaming a fear of rejection.

In all honesty, Carol, I can needlessly debate because I could debate in the wrong situation (such as the one you read concerning my brother and myself). Actually, only my brother and my mother DO NOT debate. Only my grandfather, my father, and myself debate -- we are alike . But therein lies the problem since I can develop too much of a habit while I am with them. So, I can needlessly fight them. Therefore, I have to temper myself and not apply my habit to every situation. If I debated with everyone, I then would create needless adversaries, or I would irritate people to the point that they don't want to talk to me anymore.

I am glad that you still are messaging me.

I haven't posted other pages to my story yet. But when I do, I hope that you will read them.

Why are you painting your kitchen? [I forgot to ask you that]

Dear ViveAnne,

At this time of the year I suddenly notice how shabby and dirty the house is looking so this year I decided to refresh all the paint. I began with the kitchen - changed it from blue to yellow. Then I did the hallway upstairs and down (Gentle Lavender) and the upstairs bathroom in the same Lavender shade. Then I moved on to the lounge and office (they are one large room but the office is tucked off through an archway. It is there I am painting st the moment in a shade called Warm Terracotta. Well actually is is there that I am sitting at the mom ent typing this message to you but later this morn ing I will get back to the painting!

As I paint I am taking down all the curtains and washing them. Gradually the house is beginning to look better! Spring cleaning I guess you would call it, but it is a bit early as we are still in the depths of winter, of course.

In fact it is very cold here in Devon at the moment - though it is colder in Scotland (north of England). The north always has worse weather than we do in the south. I expect it is cold where you are - I have heard your winters are bitterly cold. I remember a teacher I had at school, who had lived in Canada for some time. She always said that if they didn't keep a fire burning overnight they would have frozen to death in their beds. Of course, this was a long time ago - Probably before the days of central heating!

Well, back to the painting (I have two bedrooms To do after the lounge!
Luckily I like painting!

Yesterday, I was too busy defending a position for me to respond to your message.

I was proposing that by how life is set up, life can defeat itself and de-evolve into oblivion.

I was proposing that Evolution could mean De-Evolution, and Scandrea majorly disagreed with me! Well, I didn't expect to be told that I was immediately wrong, but only told that I have a different perspective.

I spent a lot of time yesterday trying to clarify my proposition so that Scandrea could better see the point I was making (and she didn't have to agree).

Speaking of Spring Cleaning:

Lavender is a nice colour to paint.

But, I have another thought:

Are you writing any stories? Or are you posting any writing on H2G2?

Thanks for your message - glad you like Lavender - it certainly looks nice in the hall and is very relaxing in the bathroom when you are lying in a bath full of Lavender and Teatree foam - lovely!! Especially when you are all hot and bothered from a long day of painting!

You are the second person to ask whether I had posted any writing - well at the moment I have not. I read Clarissa's message last night and went away to read the house rules. I was worried that I was signing away my copyright if I posted anything but am now content that I am not, I will put a story on for everyone to read shortly. Trouble is they are very long but, hey if anyone is interested they will read to the bitter end I guess.

I had to think about your situation. I have an answer for you now:

You can paint and write at the same time.

Well, the situation of life is that there is always more than one thing to do at a time. You've heard of multi-tasking, but I am not using that term as relevant to you. Multi-tasking means doing two different tasks at the same time. Instead, paint but think of "writing ideas" at the same time, or of your story. Painting and meditating goes hand in hand.

I meditate all the time, but I do it through dance and listening to music.

I come up with all sorts of ideas for stories while I listen to music or when I dance. As for my situation, I need theme music for my stories to take form.

Now about Your Concern about Copyright:

I can tell you a little story about copyright.

In my current story that I am actually writing (actually typing), there is a ship (a space vessel) in this story that goes by the name of "Serenity". Well, namesake isn't unique and belongs only to one ship, place, and person. So, there is a show called FireFly (an American Show), which has in it a space ship also called "Serenity". Well, I just shrugged my shoulders to that revelation. So, I believe that a story can be individual but not unique or totally alien.

My story is individual (only comes from the person named Leiann Hill) for a number of reasons:

1) the main character is based on myself (her name is ViveAnn)
2) the other characters can only be found in this story, or they are individuals not really found anywhere else.

You are right - I think of ideas when I am doing other things, of course. When I go out for a walk or am gardening (or painting). I have now finished the lounge and am choosing a green for the bedroom - you would not believe the different shades of green paint you can buy. And it must be the right shade. I don't want to do all that work (it is a big room) and then find I hate the shade do I?

I am plesed to hear that you are writing - I posted my first thing yesterday but put it in the wrong place. I have since shifted it to the Alternative Writing site. I did have some nice comments about it though before I removed it.
