I'm sorry I've been lax writing the Witter for 
for the last few issues. Life is now returning to normal (I hope) so I'll be back with a contribution for the next edition.

Not good enough. You're fired 
'Regular' doesn't mean 'every issue', you know. It means that you've written a number of articles on a theme and of a consistently high standard that we really, really want you to write for us as often as possible. You can take a break for a while, come back, contribute every issue, once a month, on 29th February issues only, whatever.
So no apology is required. We love having you writing for us, as often or as infrequently as you are able. I'm just glad everything turned out well in the end

Thank you Skanks. It's just when I make a commitment, I like to stick to it and feel particularly bad because I haven't dropped by to explain / apologise. Now I have, my conscience is salved
