h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I am interested in starting a challenge called 'Science Writing'. A word/phrase related to science is suggested every week/few weeks (maybe some new discovery/innovation), and members of the challenge can write a piece (short-fiction, normal scifi, ANYTHING - but no bog-standard Star Trek scripts please) related in some way to that word/phrase. If people can come up with some kind of lateral-connection to the theme it would be more interesting (as I assume most people will write something directly related and a bit of change would be nice).

Anymore information can be found on the thread 'Science Writing' in Challenge Bids (Write -> Challenge Bids -> Science Writing). If you cannot find information you need there, I will try to answer any questions posted here.

I'm hoping to start the challenge on Thursday 27th January 2005, so if you are interested, please say so on the thread 'Science Writing' (directions above).

Ah yes it would do me great honor to have a challange bestowed upon me. Sorry to sound so formal its my mood but never mind that I would love to write I will try and think of something new and oringal and then have the joy of typing it up what fun ... oh well thanks for asking I will enter in the challange once it is made.

your welcome its good to give people support I hope other people sign up too. I am sure they will. I would let my friends on here know about it but I dont think they are into the sci-fi writing like me so. But if I can notify any of my friends that are interested I will be sure to do that. I am really look foward to writing something new I have been looking for a good vibe and buzz so I hope to come of one soon.

Since it does not have to be scifi that is submitted for this challenge - absolutely anything which contains reference to the chosen word/phrase in the correct context - I would be very grateful if you could tell your friends about it. A poem, a script, a short story, a novel - whatever they want to write they can, so long as it has some connection (direct or lateral) to the word/phrase.

OKay will let them know but they can never seem to actually finsh a story or let alone type it up my friend is well underprivlaged and doesnt have typing and the other one has lost interest in the site for lucid dreamin so I mean I am getting into the 6th sence and I still write he just drives me up the wall I think you may know the feeling from other friends. But just as all I will let them know. They might submit if they can get to it. I am on a lead so I am very proud of my self but I just finshed exams so I am drained I had a nice 8 days off from school though so I think I can get back into wing. Thanks again for leting me know about the challange I feel special I mean not really but it is nice that I got invited into something.

The challenge is started! Unfortunately, I could not set up a challenge, so for now at least we're posting our work in the Review section of the site and putting the A- number on the thread. You can get to the thread by going to Write, then Challenges, Challenge Bids & then Science Writing.

OKay thanks if you hadnt explained that I would have never been able to work it. I think computer hate me. I will enter once I recover the work my computer deleted. I unmeaning to I got rid of it. I dont think they like me because now I can not get it back.
But I will rewrite something better then that one how I have still to find out.

I have a few question-- what is the name of this and how to find it in simpler steps my computer hates me. How long does it have to be? When is it over?

The name of the challenge is 'Science Writing', and if you go to 'Write', then 'Challenges' and then 'Challenge Bids', you should find the thread there. Alternatively, you can find it here:
Science Writing Challenge

Your piece can be anything up to 3000 words, and each word/phrase lasts for a week. Within that week you can produce a piece related to that word/phrase in the correct context, and this must be submitted between Fridays - each word is submitted on a Friday afternoon GMT.

Any other questions you have can (hopefully) be answered at the link above.
