h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well, I got here. It was'nt easy. I innocently tried to register with H2G2 from my Internet Phone, as soon as it was announced on the telly. My phone promptly exploded (in a metaphorical way - it was actaully more like a small fizzle) and I eventually resorted to the big guns. Armed with the best PC that money can buy (a PII 450 with so much memory I'm not even gonna try to count it. If you thought I was gonna say a 48K ZX Spectrum, then your just plain silly!) and the fastest dialup link available this side of the pond (a ten way party-line with a ludicrously unrealisticly optimistic modem), I try again. It does'nt work. Concidering myself somewhat of a techy (I wear glassess occasinally), I try my most effective technological technique: I press the Register button 128 times. This did'nt work either, but it made me feel a whole lot better! Obviously I pressed it one more time. As usual I got a response on the last press (I usually stop after I get a response. One day I did'nt and the owner of the door-bell hung me upside down for 5 days until I got the hint). Well not so much of a reponse as a statement of intent (the server acknowledged that it existed). I waited a while and have finally got through (about 41 hours after applying). Obviously I'm dissapointed: I though this was the queue for a particularly good Night Club. I suppose 25000 people in front of me can't be wrong.
