Aside from the disbelief at where that time has gone, one thing I could not have predicted twenty years ago is that my job would involve driving combine harvesters. smiley - scientist

When did YOU join h2g2? What has happened in your life since then that you never expected?

I joined h2g2 10 years ago. In that time I never expected I would find love until death did us part smiley - loveblushsmiley - rose

I've had a few different jobs in that time, too - all in offices, though, not driving combine harvesters! Does the job use a range of your skills in the field, or would you rather be smiley - scientist in a lab?

Hello SashaQ. Thanks for dropping by. smiley - smiley

A smiley - rose for your love.

I've had three (paid) jobs in the time I've been on h2g2. One of them was the worst job I've ever had. One of them was one of the best jobs I've ever had.

I get to smiley - scientist in the field, in the lab, on the computer. Driving combines is possibly one of the most satisfying parts, as it's the culmination of everything we've done to get to that point.

I fully expect the next 10 years to surprise me some more. Do you want to break free from the office?

Excellent smiley - ok Great when you have job satisfaction smiley - ok

I quite like an office job - sometimes there are office politics, which are not so good (although I can sometimes see the humour in the situations A87934747smiley - winkeye), but in general I am satisfied if I have a computer at a comfortable desk and a variety of tasks to be getting on with.

I am lucky that my current job (working with statistics) is one of the best jobs I have ever had smiley - ok I expect the next 10 years will surprise me more as well, in this age of uncertainty, as there are some fascinating jobs out there (such as the one I currently have) that my school careers advisors couldn't even imagine, never mind advise me about...
