I woke several times a day at work. It only takes about five seconds to walk from the bar to the dishpit but I reckon I forget what I went there for at least half the time. Sometimes I find myself in the dishpit when I meant to go to dry store (and vice versa), because the entrance to dry store is a right turn next to the entrance to the dishpit and I simply walked right past it having forgotten what I was going there for anyway.

So I just have to retrace my steps. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.

On Friday I did something similar in a car. Luckily, this time, I realised I was going the wrong way (only by about 50 miles ) before I turned onto the M4, so I was able to turn the other way and rectify my error. At least 80% of the time, I go the way I thought I was going. However, this was one of those occasions when I wasn't supposed to be going that way. I very nearly ended up in an actual Woking.

that is quite a detour! I don't think I've ever driven 50 miles in the wrong direction before... occasionally used to go the 20 miles to uni when it was actually a day off, or gone all the way over without my book/bank card/phone/project work/key to open the workshop and my toolbox/desk and had to come home.
