Did you know that VW's have a reputation for starting second time round.
I didn't until I took mine back after a service that ended up with the car never starting on the first key turn.
"Lots of VW's do this" said the garage chief.
Anyone else had the same experience?

I've only ever owned VolksWagens. From the '69 Beetle that I learned to drive in, to my current Golf, a failure to start on the first turn would be cause for concern.
My Golf gets driven about once a month. It's a year overdue for its service. It starts first time, every time.
VW's work. That's why I buy them. I'd change garage.

I've been doing some digging. Turns out to be the first sensor in some nifty bit of hard wired electronics that's gone wrong. To repair it means replacing the whole caboodle and costs real money. As it starts second on the second key turn EVERY time, I've decided to leave as is - until the second sensor goes
