My 34-year old brother finally took the plunge and got married.

What a whirlwind of a day! My daughters were junior bride's maids and I was the best man so it was quite an X-family affair for us.

As his best man, I did the obligatory toast to the happy couple. I don't remember exactly what I said, but I spoke from the heart and it made my mother cry so I guess it was okay. I stayed sober throughout the night and ensured that he and his spouse had a good time until they left for Niagara Falls for their honeymoon.

And in a fun bit of convergence he got married at the exact time I was born 39 years ago.

I bet your daughters were wonderful bridesmaids, and it sounds like you were a great best man. Niagara Falls huh? I'd love to go there!

Me too. But I'd rather go when the temperature is above freezing.

They stayed on the 42nd (no, I'm not kidding) floor of a hotel that overlooked the falls. In Canada, there are a bunch of vineyards upriver from the falls and they brought back a bunch of ice wine - some of which I suspect will find its way under our X-mas tree in a few weeks.

Ooo, I had ice wine - from Germany I believe - very nice indeed!

A belated Happy Birthday. It sounds like it was one to remember.

It won't be much of a bother remembering their anniversary date that's for sure.

That was kind of them, organising the wedding on your birthday! I'm glad you had a good weekend.

They gave me a cake at their rehearsal dinner on Friday night that was (in my opinion) more tasty than their wedding cake.
