Backatcha morrie. Been away. Not much going on around here, is there? I suspect a lot of members have prematurely given up on the site. Or they've all been in the Indian Ocean.

What a lovely Christmas it's been, here in the comfort of almost-Europe. And what a dumbass Tony Blair is for missing it!

Insensitive New Year!

oooh, my first kiss from fergie. not alot going on round here, no, but i am as happy as a skylark (whatever one of those is), although that could be the red wine talking, better red wine talking than talking whining red

Glad you're happy, morrie (even if just temporarily until the wine buzz wears off).

There aren't many skylarks left, thanks to agribusiness. If you see or hear one, that's happy. Unless it's a genetically modified one, which moans all the time.

Bono's just come on the radio. I can't explain why he's my bĂȘte noire, he just is. I don't WANT him emoting all over the place and simultaneously boosting the tsunami appeal and his ego.

The whine buzz whore off.

I went to the Long Man of Wilmington today, to do an Odinist (not my tradition, but I'm a slut for Thor) ritual of passing - tsunami victims. It felt wild and good to get away from the arbitrary normality of the righteous grief, bono vox is one of those, the hypocracy of the man, with his millionaire pronouncements on 'stupid poverty', timed nicely to co-incide with his marketing campaign tied to apple mac. I find most of what people say to be gratuitous, they view this disaster from the point of view of their own passing pain about it.

For me, you are like a man of Norse myth ...

Loki, would that be, morrie?

No, Loki made too many mistakes, and anyway, my friend had a rat called Loki, and as nice as he was, I don't sort of see you that way.

The nine tenets (sp?) of Odinism - as I say, tis not my path, but it still resonates with me:-

1. To maintain candor and fidelity in love and devotions to the tried friend: though he strike me I will do him no scathe.

2. Never to make a wrongsome oath: for great and grim is the reward for the breaking of plighted troth.

3. To deal not hardly with the humble and lowly.

4. To remember the respect that is due great age.

5. To suffer no evil to go unremedied and to fight against the enemies of family, nation, race and faith: my foes will I fight in the field nor be burnt in my house.

6. To succor thefriendless but to put no faith in the pledgedword of a stranger people.

7. If I hear the fool's word of a drunken man I will strive not: for many a grief and the very death groweth out of such things.

8. To give kind heed to dead men: straw-dead, sea-dead or sword-dead.

9. To abide by the enactments of lawful authority and to bear with courage and fortitude the decrees of the Norns.

This is essentially about honour, something which is almost entirely forgotten these days. You are a harsh but honourable man, thus, remind me of the norse code.

obviously, if you are also tall, broad of back and with either blond or red hair, you are probably of viking origin. i often wonder how much we carry in our genes, magickal remembrances etc. i think it's more than we know.

Morrie, ta everso for the note. I gotta go now, but I'll get back to ya in the morning.

How long is it since I last heard 'scathe' used correctly? I am whelmed.
