A theory I agree with, (which actually originated in my own head just now but I didn't want to say that because it would seem a bit egocentric) is that in everyday conversations people seem to blab on and on about themselves and this is translated easily to the internet. Reflecting upon my last statement, it seems that I (there I go again) may be the author of the world's longest runon sentence.
