Jon,
I don't know if you're aware of the latest community news - but there's been some interesting discussions about the proposed 'freezing' of the GW site.
What particularly alarmed me was the discussions about copyright and how the BBC basically can use any of your material free of charge:
"Where you are invited to submit any contribution to bbc.co.uk (including any text, photographs, graphics, video or audio) you agree, by submitting your contribution, to grant the BBC a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub-licenseable right..."
I suppose I'm a bit naive and have no one to blame but myself (I didn't read the Terms and Conditions before signing up!), but I'm not happy with this at all and have subsequently deleted all my stuff.
Anyway, the long and the short of it is that I'm not happy with posting my work on the site any more - so unfortunately I have to quit the group also.
I've really enjoyed the short time that I've been a member and would like to thank you for making it a great learning experience. I just don't think it's fair that the BBC can grab the rights to something that I've (sometimes) worked hard on, especially since I intend to sell it.
If you ever think of setting up your own site, or joining another with decent Terms and Conditions please let me know. I can be contacted at: [email protected].
Best wishes, and thanks once again.
Diomedies (Gavin J. Carr).
