h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

There seems to be somewhat of a crisis at Vlieland at the moment. The story in the Volkskrant is about the fact that the whole of the police corps, six or eight persons, has been dismantled and has for the time being been replaced by two interim police officers.
The story in the VK is really nice, it gives a good insight in the relaxed atmosphere on the island and of the islanders. Everyone knows everyone, if someone stumbles at the beginning of the street and hurts his toe, at the end of the street it said to be a broken leg. The police officers that are relieved from duty are not allowed to talk, but there's an interview with the major and the people of the village speak freely.
What's also good this week is the column of Sylvia Witteman, she's great the way she describes the behaviour of her kids.

this remind me of yesteryears:
when I younger on Vlieland I found lots of wallets dyke near cafetaria, they forgotten by ice cream / french fries eaters who left then while eating enjoying Waddensea view. I do not know how much I excactly I found, but it was lot.
