Eclipse

Yep, I was in Cornwall and although the sun was invisible, and although it rained, it was a wonderful, eerie, unsettling experience. But why are are you waiting for 2006? What's wrong with Mozambique in 2001? A great way to amrk the first year of the millennium!

I'll tell you why, it's because I'm only 13, so I haven't yet got enough money. By the 2001 eclipse, I will be 15, but by the 2006 one, I will be 20, and hopefully by then saved up enough money, unless you are willing to take me with you in 2001?

I'm glad you enjoyed the eclipse grom Cornwall, so did my mum's best friend. She said it was awsome. In Southend-on-Sea, it was 97%. My friend stayed inside and said there was no difference. I was in another friend's garden projecting the image through a telescope. It did however, have that "getting dark" feeling. It also got very quiet and cold, but there was not a cloud in the sky!!!!

I vote Israel 2006, unless someone takes me with them in 2001....

And what about the lunar eclipse of 25th January 2000? I've seen a total eclipse of the moon and 2 partial eclipse of the sun... beat that at my young age (and every one of them from Southend).

You posted in my forum (U52333) that the BBC covered the eclipse well? They did; on television at least; but how can you watch an eclipse on the radio? Instead you get some bloke telling you when it happens. Yes, the eclipse was impressive; I live in Chelmsford, so it was probably the same level as it was in Southend; but putting the eclipse on the radio? The only thing that surpasses it is 'Keyboard Error- Press F1'.

Hmmm, point taken. And how is Chelmsford? Good? Last time I went there I was 9, to Riverside Iceskating rink. I wanted to go there in April, but it was cancelled on the morning, since the friend taking us fell ill, clever!

And some very sad news, I just got e-mailed by some top eclipse person who tells me the 2006 eclipse passes through Turkey, not much closer!!!!!! ARRRRRRRRGGGGGH!!!!!!!!! Still, the web site was good entertainment for eclipse obsessed people such as myself....

Riverside. Wow. What a great advert for Chelmsford to the rest of the world; a big corrugated dome with more contageous disease than you could get on a tour of Asia. Chelmsford should get better with a new city stauts which it will (hopefully) get in 2000. It has honestly improved a lot since then, and a second multiplex cinema with restaurants, a second bowling alley etc. is being built on the old gas site down by the river. Check it out next year.
Just to make it relevant to this forum , here's the e-word, "eclipse".

Southend should get it's city status, after all-it's got the longest pleasure pier in the world, plus loads of arcades down the seafront that I never go to-mainly because it's so damned expensive.

Here's the e-word, LONG LIVE THE TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSES!!!!!! smiley - winkeye
