In case anybody is interested the statue of Zeus was one of the Seven Wonders of the
Ancient World. It was several feet high and it was forged in gold and ivory. The artist
who created it, is thought to have been the best sculptor in the Ancient World, Pheidias.
Unfortunatelly the statue was destroyed and we only know how it looked like from
descriptions that have been passed on to us in works of ancient authors.

People who cheated or stole money at Ancient Olympic games were forced to buy a miniature silver model of the Statue of Zeus as "punishment". It takes souvinir shops into a whole new world.
