Really enjoyed this, Toni Morrison is my favourite author and her writing is just beautiful. Didn't realise Beloved was based on a true story. I've read the book several times but after reading the 'Toni Morrison' entry I will have to read it again to clarify parts of the entry I didn't agree with.
Quoted "Sethe is found at the farm, with the naked body of a very pregnant Beloved". I can't remember this detail. Although Beloved gets bigger and greedier and more aggressive towards the end I didn't get the impression that she was pregnant. The essay also stated that Denver leaves, but this is to find help and she comes to the rescue of her mother by getting the community that estranged Sethe to get involved. I think Paul D is less important in the care of Sethe than Denver and the neighbours.
Just a couple of observations I made but I'll read the novel again as I may have missed some things and anyway everybody reads a novel differently and each person gets something different from it. After all isn't that the beauty of literature.
Thanks for an informative and intersting article.
