h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

So at about nine last night I get my usual Saturday night phone call from my mom. I wasn't expecting anything to be wrong... so much for that. Apparently my grandma had a stroke at about six. She's in the critical care unit and apparently hasn't spoken yet either. We don't know how bad it is yet.

Grandma is up and kind of walking, and she's starting to talk, which is a good sign! *breathes a bit*

It sounds great that she's making utterances and has the coordination to walk.

I'm concerned about the matriarch. How is your Gran?
Are you wanting to knock through walls or mountains to be there for her?
I know I feel like shaking the earth. Even it was just so you could punch me for being the way.

I don't have any more news than that... I should be hearing from my mom tonight, because she has to tell me what time her surgery is tomorrow. So I should know more soon. I wanted to head home Saturday night when I got the news, and was foiled by my mother speaking sense (the roads are quite bad and they just got 18" of snow back home).

How are you guys doing?

Well, due to not taking care of himself and the added stress from grandma being in the hospital my uncle had a heart attack on Wednesday. He's been in and out of surgery since, and they aren't quite sure when he gets to come home. Grandma however is doing wonderfully and is due home sometime next week.

I'm glad your grandma has put up a good fight with the help of modern medicine. I hope the same goes with your uncle.

Grandma got to come home Sunday night, she's already starting to scold grandpa for fussing over her (a very good sign). Uncle Mark is doing well, I guess that he's going to be staying with mom and dad until the doctor says he's fine to stay by himself.

He's due home on Friday... forgot to add that bit...

He's not, he's still in the hospital. Friday morning he had another massive heart attack and apparently he coded. He's lucky to still be alive at this point. I'm headed home in about an hour and I should be back Monday or so...
