We went to see 'Oliver' being performed by the local amateur dramatic society. The word 'amateur being absolutely accurate. We went because our Y.D.G. had a solo to sing as a workhouse kid and was in the chorus. It was colourful, and tuneless(except for Y,D.G. of coursesmiley - biggrin.) Mr. Bumble's hat fell of at one point and he then forgot his lines. The 'girl' playing Nancy was about 50smiley - yikes and sang like a demented fishwife. the seats were hard and I came away with a sore bumsmiley - injured. However as all the 'artistes are local and I met quite a few today in the village I have told more lies than Tom Peppersmiley - blush. It is very difficult to say the whole thing was crap when the leading lady has her six foot husband with her. This is the only place where I would dare say the show was rubbish.smiley - smiley
Just seven miles we away we have the Kidz theatre group which performs shows that are most professionaly produced.
We had a little snow today which was a bit of a surprise not enough to playsmiley - snowball and it didn't stick and it has been quite cold. I feared for my new roses which have a lot of new growth but they look O.K.
I have managed to raise quite a bit of money for the boxing club but now I am struggling to get the people on the committee to do their bitsmiley - cross Even The Son who started me off on this lark is 'busy' and can't seem to find the time to do his bitsmiley - grr
The Boss and I are quite well, I am still waiting to see the dentist but the tooth is painless now 'cos I am living on painkillers, smiley - drunk
Most of my friends and I are really cross because Parker Bowles is to be titled Duchess of Cornwall. We didn't mind Diana having the title too much as she was quite pretty, but most of us Cornish dislike English people being given Cornish titlessmiley - cross many English people forget we are a conquered nation and resent being reminded of the fact by the English having Cornish titles.

Triquack

Hi Kif, long time no cross swords.

As I'm sure you know I always take an interest in the passions of other people, I often look at the BBC webcams of Cornwall.

Just wondered if you are aware of this site, there is some beautiful poetry which I know is one of your loves.

Take care, both of you, Quacksmiley - ok

Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor

Hi kif
When I saw your post at the "weather" thread I came here to ask you what you thought about the impending-new-Duchess-of-Cornwall.

I can see from your already-published journal that you don't mindsmiley - winkeye

smiley - laugh

I think whatever title she takes would have been "wrong" for someone (I hear she's banned from Rothsay)

By the time she's Queen Camilla, everyone will breath a sigh of relief - at least that'll be a brand-new title.

Hi Kif smiley - cuddle and Triquack smiley - hug

I agree with and endorse your comments on the Kidz troupe, Kif. I went to see the Will Rogers Follies a few years ago at the Minack put on by Kidz R Us, and it was fantastic. Soon forgot they were Kidz and felt confident with their performance - no worries about missed cues and bad delivery. 'Specially enjoyed the bi-plane that whizzed round the cliffs and opened the show with a spectacular "air dance" while the Kidz smiley - musicalnotesangsmiley - musicalnote on stage.

No smiley - snowballsmiley - llabwons here, but the telegraph pole outside my house was hit by a spectacular (and incredibly alarming) thunderbolt yesterday. I was sitting on the settee facing the window just gazing into space when it struck. I couldn't see for several minutes because the flash was so intense. The noise was deafening and within nano-seconds I had a lap full of quivering smiley - dog and smiley - catsmiley - catsmiley - cats!!

Phones are out as a result, although fortunately the computer was not adversely affected, although, of course, I cannot connect to the net.

I am not a happy bunny in storms, and my immediate reaction was to ring one of the daughters for a "comfort chat" (they understand me, and if I haven't rung them within minutes of a thunderclap, they ring me). That's when I discovered the phones were down, so resorted to the (pay-as-you-go) mobile, only to be informed "We are sorry, there are insufficient funds for you to make any further calls" smiley - grrsmiley - steam

Felt a bit isolated then, and, in fact, very peculiar for the rest of the evening and the night shift. OK now

Will stop wittering and let you two get on with your busy lives.

Take care both of you
