h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

We have had a bit of a weird time lately. Both the Boss and I picked up some bug from the children when we had them here. The Son then fell ill and the Doc thought it a good idea to give him penicillin. he took one tablet and went into anaphylactic shock. We were called around to his house and found him with swollen face and unable to breathe. Doctor arrived and gave him andrenilin injections, and put him into an oxygen mask. Paramedics then arrived and carted him off to H.D.U.at the hospital. We stayed with the children while daughter in law went to hospital. Thankfuly his treatment was swift and effective and he is now recovering. While all this was going on our house was upside down waiting for a guy to come and fit three carpets. He arrived, not with three carpets but with one huge one which he could not get through the door so he had to lay it out in the road to cut to size. We had the house painted so as well as feeling unwell we had an hysterical carpet layer, the worry about The Son and the stink of paint to put up with.
But we are O.K. now.

time? !!! Have you ever heard of the chaos theory? I reckon that was more like it!

I was found to be allergic to penicillin when I was hospitalised with glandular fever (many years ago when I was 17!) Thankfully, no doctor has every risked giving it to me again - it's plastered in bright red over all my notes!

Is your son allergic? Sounds like he well may be! It must have been very frightening, not only to the adults, but especially the children.

I'm glad you & the Boss have recovered from illness, but, oh dear, 3 carpets at the same time? You are devils for punishment! Where on earth did you put all the furniture?

We piled all the furniture into spare bedrooms and our shed and the hall. The only clear room in the house was our bedroom.
Yep the lad is allergic to penicillin and it is all over his notes at the surgery.
We shall NEVER redecorate even if we live another 70 years
But the house does look quite nice now
