What a performance I have had with this computer it got so stuffed up I had a friend come in to re formatt it. Now it is really fast BUT the scanner doesn't work, and I have no sound so I can't play my favourite games
My pal is coming on Wednesday to put it right,if he can
I now have something called msn messenger installed but I don't know anyone else who has it(other than my pal who did the formatt for me) and I talk to him on the 'phone mostly.
We have had a bit of wind lately, one morning I found my greenhouse lying in the garden path fortunately the panes are plastic not glass so I just had to put it back together, nothing broken.
All the family are well, especially The Boss, who is a walking miracle. Not that she can walk far, but she is fitter than she has been for years..
I feel pretty good. I might even start to keep the journal regularly again. I have enjoyed going back to see what we did last summer and have been able to jog The Boss' memory about stuff, so it has come in useful.
Neither The Son nor I will be in the Dads Army production. I discovered that my this years O.U.work is really heavy, and with my commitments to the writers circle and the Wednesday group I decided I wouldn't be able to manage the time. And because I decided against, The Son backed out. He said he wouldn't make a pratt of himself if I wasn't going to also.
The winter has been quite mild and my garden is full of colour. The daffodils are out far too early as is the wallflower. Primroses are in bloom and the red cammelias are beautiful.
I have made one lasagne bed, got the idea from U.G and it is going to be so much easier to work as it is quite high. My David Austin roses have settled in nicely, and are coming into leaf already which is a bit soon, especially if we have a late frost. It was Teuchter who told where I could get the roses I wanted so my garden improvements are hootoo inspired.

Hi Kif,
Sounds like you have loaded it with Windows XP, am I right?.
MSN messenger comes as standard but I don't use it and I don't know many people who do either, I don't think it's very secure or something. You can get rid of it but it's a bit complicated. I just ignore it.
I messed aroung for a while with a 'bitza' computer my Son put together for me, but when I got really into it I bought a complete new outfit from Compaq auctions. They sell off surplus/reconditioned/discontinued stock on their own web auction site (It's HP now). I got a 1.7G processor, 40G disc and 256 memory together with a monitor with powered speakers worth about £1100.00 for £480.00, I thought, "well that's me set for life". I've since added another 20G disc, doubled the mem and I curse it 'coz it's to slow and not big enough
Shame about the AmDram but you don't want to be over committing yourself and of course the Boss will always come first.
Season wise we always reckon you to be a month ahead of us in Spring and us a month ahead into Winter, but even up here the bulbs have been through for a while. Raised growing beds are an excellent idea, even in my state I grow most of our veggie and All our Salad stuff. I have a good crop of over wintering onions and some seed grown Italian silverskins and shallots just waiting for the first bit of warm Sunshine. You have to try that sort of technique up her to compensate for the shorter season.
Strange how Roses are symbolic isn't it, most of my Boss's family are in Perth, W.A. and her Mother, Mary Kathleen (Kitty) died down there, her Ashes came back to be buried with her Husband and the Boss heard about a new Rose called 'Kitty's Rose' and so we had to have one didn't we. I searched high and low and eventually found one at Peter Beales Classic Roses, we had to wait about 18 months for it but the Old Lass is planted outside the French Doors and I can keep an eye on her from my Computer station.
Hope your mate gets you sorted out with the computer, sounds like driver problems which arn't to bad as a rule.

WOW! Kif, I have visions of you in front of something resembling a bit from Starship Enterprise, wearing a leather helmet, Mk IV goggles with an and a Silk scarfe billowing behind in the hot breeze from the processor cooling fan..
Seriously (I do try sometimes), I'm pleased you got it sorted, I just have the Home version but it's great for photo' stuff.
I like the idea of a photo for each year, now I see why you were so miffed about the scanner not working.
If you have a digi camera I assume it would come with a manipulation suite, have you though about 'mixing him a right bottle' with some collage stuff.
My Boss's family are in Perth, W.A. and we had some real fun with the help of one of her Sisters, I got her to pose with an arm out to one side, looking towards her hand and then superimposed a large Parrot on her forearm and another on her shoulder. Between us we managed to convince the other Sister that we had invested in Parrot breeding and were making a fortune.
I got mine sorted, I had downloaded Service Pack 2 as part of the auto update and didn't realise that it contained a firewall. I already had Norton firewall and it seems that if you run two together they can cause a conflict.
Microsoft firewall disabled, all's well
