The storm hit us last night and has been increasing in ferocity by the hour. I went to Pendeen this morning and had quite a struggle to walk along the church path. The noise inside the church was horrendous with the slates on the roof rattling to beat the band.
In spite of the weather I drove to Pz for lunch as usual.
The sea was coming over the promenade and the wind made it impossible to walk on the prom. This evening the spring tides combined with the high tide have broken part of the sea wall in Penzance and some of the houses are flooded. Newlyn and Mousehole have sea water on the streets but not in the houses at the last report.
I quite expect to lose a tree or two as they are swaying around like crazy at the moment. This village is high up so we have no fear of flooding but we quite expect the road to Pz to be underwater in places tomorrow as it is raining heavily and the water runs off the fields into the road.
I moved many of the pots in the garden yesterday which is just as well. This evening they would all be rolling around the everywhere.
We have had a few flickers with the electricity supply so candles are lit just in case we lose it all together.
Porthleven and Flushing are badly flooded and people are being moved out of their home according to the T.V. news.
