h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

We decided to go to Mevagissy for lunch today. It is fifty miles from here but a lovely drive. We thought the roads might be busy so left early. In the event the roads were very clear and we got to Mevagissy before noon. The car park had plenty of spacesand we had no trouble getting in but the village was packed. There was some kind of game going on there, hordes of people in fancy dress were running around with water guns and gunge guns but they were only splatting each other. it looked like great fun. Within a couple of minutes we saw Minnie Mouse, Shrek, a mad professor and a donkey. the costumes were really good and there was a festive feel to the place. We managed to get a table in the window of a harbour side hotel and we spent a couple of hours over a leisurely lunch and watched the world go by outside. There were a great many very fat middle aged people walking around. As The Boss said if they weren't shouting on a mobile phone they were stuffing food into their mouths!
After a wander around the village and the shops we started for home at about four. I wanted to drive through the village and come home on the coast road but the roads were too narrow for the traffic that was there. Lots of jams so I decided to come back a different way and got lost!! We ended up in Goon Haven of all places. Still we drove through some places we hadn't seen before and really enjoyed the drive. When we did get home there was a message from The Best Friend asking us to go to the barbecue she is having this evening but we politely declined aswe felt we had had enough 'out' today. Another good day!
