What a brilliant day We went to Glensdurgan gardens to see the agaves which are in flower for the first time . Apparently they will now die and hopefully will leave seedlings to grow for a hundred years till the next flowering. There were hordes of people there but once inside the gardens it was not crowded as the gardens are so huge and the paths wind in and out of the plants it was easy to imagine we were there alone. We walked all the way down to Durgan village and the beach. We took our time and sat down often but thoroughly enjoyed it. The place is sub tropical and with huge gunera and tree ferns as well as indigenous trees and shrubs it was almost like being in a jungle. We had lunch in the cafe. I had a smoked fish salad which had salmon, haddock mackerel prawns and whelks in it. it was huge and delicious and only four and a half quid. The Boss went back to the car after the meal and I went back into the garden to wander around the laurel maze which was fun. We drove home through Port Navas Constantine and Gweek. A wonderful drive in the sunshine.
We came home to find that The Son has planning permission at last to build the extra bedrooms on his house which means we can get rid of some of the stuff we are storing for him. A storm is forecast for tonight so I have taken down the hanging baskets and tucked the patio furniture away.
I am already struggling with my O.U.work. I picked a biography of A.L. Rouse the Cornish historian to study for my first tutorial and it is as boring as as all giddout I will struggle through but will be more careful next time I have to pick a book.
