h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Sitting on Long Rock beach this afternoon I was thinking how fortunate I was to discover Cornwall when I did.
I was actually prepared to go and visit my sister in Switzerland in August 1955 and the evening before I was due to fly out I suddenly decided I just did not want to go. An old aunt of mine told me to take a holiday somewhere else while I sorted myself out. I was restless and unhappy at twenty one and had no idea what to do with my life. I saw a poster in Paddington station which had stuck in my my mind. it said Come To Penzance! So I did, and the first day down here met The Boss and within six months we were married, and here I was nearly 49 years later looking at one of the most beautiful bays in the world and counting my blessings.
The Mount had a wreath of mist around it and drifts of sea mist were lying across the beach in patches, it was amazing, like something out of a Disney film. Not too many people on the beach and it was so peaceful.
When we left we decided to drive home through Mousehole and Lamorna, on to Porthcurno and then home via Sennen. A really lovely drive.
I rang my sister in N.Z. this morning and we had a long gossip about The Olympian who has gor himself entangled with yet another woman. He is 75 years old and still having woman trouble. Amazing!
I have neither seen nor heard from The Son today I expect he is avoiding me because I was cross about The Boat. He' ll be here tomorrow and I will not mention the wretched thing bit I will endeavour to look hard done by and make him feel guilty.
