I use to keep a diary when I was younger, unfortunately I decided one day they were too boring to keep and I ditched them. Now I wish I had kept them because I have lost some of my long term memory and I can't argue with my wife when she says about something that happened in the 80's. So I am going to put some stuff down here which will probably still be boring but at least I will be able to look stuff up if it comes to an argument!.
We have had a really good day today. We actually went for a walk which sounds ordinary enough, however my wife has been seriously ill and to get out in the sunshine and walk for about a mile is a real achievement for her.She spent most of last year in and out of hospital. She had two minor and three major operations and twice my son and I were called to her bedside because she was not expected to get better, however she is a tough Cornishwoman and fought her way back to recovery. I told her that if she didn't get better I was going to get myself a young blonde housekeeper so she made a real effort to get well!
We walked along Penzance promenade and out to Newlyn where a little shop sells the best ice cream in the world. We had ice cream with Cornish cream and a flake and sat on the beach to eat them. Luvverly!
The bay was busy with jet skis, yachts, and speed boats and even a few swimmers. I was so happy to be out with her. We have been together 48 years and she is my best pal.The sun shone it was warm and I felt like a kid,the years seemed to roll back and it was the way it was when we were courting, just two people pleased with each others company and at peace with the world. Such a good day today.
My son bought a speed boat yesterday, next Sunday he has promised to take us for a spin around the bay (That is Mounts Bay) and I am really looking forward to that, even 'tho I am seventy I am still a bit of a speed freak and sometimes, when I am in the car alone I push it to the limit, but only when the road is clear and I think it is safe for me to do so.I am hoping my son will let me take the wheel of his boat and have a bit of a burn up (if that term can be applied to speed boats)
