Hello PJ,
I just wondered what the group is like that you attend? What the quality is like, how useful the crits are? I just saw a message mentioning it, is all.

Hi there Enig,
Long time no chat. How are ye? I see that you and KJ are having perky pokes at each other in 'Hell-Fire' - What are ye's like?!
As for the 'Purple Park Poets' group, well - It's a group of us who all knew/know each other quite well from the days before the site revamp, (At least 18 of us), and had always read & reviewed each other's work, then. Due to the overwhelming influx of new members it was harder to keep up with each other, (work and chat), so Kev set up the group, after a lot of discussion between about 8 of us.
As most of us are quite serious about our writing, and actually like each other's work, we can now keep up-to-date with the latest postings.
The crits vary from person-to-person; some more detailed than others, but at least you will get an honest-based review with useful suggestions. You are also guaranteed that your work is read and commented upon; of course returning the favour. We also have a thread called 'Shredder' that is for a completely honest, rip-through crit of a piece, no holding back. There is a mix of serious, chatty and info threads. Not every member is active, but at least it's a way to keep up away from the speed of the 'Poetry Review Circle' where work has a short life-span. To be honest, most of my favourite writers, and friends, are tucked in there so it's a god place to be.
If you are interested in joining, (Kev was going to stop at 25 members, although there are now 27, I think), you would need to leave a request with him in his message box.
I could vouch for you, as I'm sure Lyndakb will do too. Maybe read and review some of the latest members work first so they will familiarise themselves with your name.
(You NEVER did read my suggested poems to you! ).
Hey, you could start with 'Sweet Cyber-ability' A3093770
It did cause a wee stir with some of your friends in 'Hell-Fire'!
And, if you have any more questions fire away. No problem.
Catch ye later,
Jen

PJ, I actually did comment on at least one of your poems ages ago, remember? I'll look at that one though and thanks for the info.

Jen, thanks for reviving all those apple, nuts and salt etc customs........some I knew and some were new.
When you think of all the folklore, superstition and bogey-men stories we’ve been reared on Jen......and all that roguery and mischief.......tis no wonder we’ve taken to poetry and all-sorts!
Jen, what newspapers is your article going to be in so that I can ask my dad to buy it nearer the time......I want the wee momentum..... and then dad will keep his eyes peeled for your stuff in the future!!.
slán a chara,
Liz

Hi Liz,
OI take it you're referring to the Hallowe'en Superstitions and customs on the PP thread, yeah?
There are some gems. Couldn't quite bring myself to do the snails one though!
I have yet to post up the piece about Hallowe'en in Derry - biggest night of the year, and where strangely enough there is never any real trouble! Weird. Might throw it up tonight. Let us know what you think - cheers.
As I already do book reviews for the two main papers, hopefully it'll be in both or their sister papers. I'll let you know closer to time. The Derry Journal now has 5 different papers, so I'm hoping for the Fri or Sun one. I'm glad you liked them. Thought they'd be of interest to the others! Guess it's in our blood, eh?
Sláinte,
Fairy-Jen
