h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Has any one else read "The Seth Material" by Jane Roberts (published in 1970 or so, currently out of print)? Or any of her other work, or any other work pertaning to the subject for that matter.

If so what's your take on the probalility of paralel planes of exestance? Were you able to accept the material entiraly as non-fiction? Personaly it kinda scares the ba-geezas outa me. I do however, as a vivid dreamer (figuretivaly as well as literaly)understand the possibility and maybe eaven the fundimental mechanics of how something of the sort might work. After all our only link to the "reality" we accept as the one we live in is our sensory perseption of it, which happens to be very sbjective. For our senses to be so overloaded by nothing throughout %50 of our mortal lives seems a bit fishy once you get a taste of a possibly much bigger picture.

I've not finished the book yet, so if your leagues ahead of me go easy.

I haven't read this book but it sounds really interesting. I am also a very vivid dreamer in both senses. I love the idea of parallel universes and the possibility of communicating with them. I saw on the what books haven't you finished thread that youv'e been reading some books on basic and theretical physics. How is that going? I love that stuff too but often feel like it is just over my head.

I think it's a little over everyone's head. It just gives me somethin to think about besides "reality". It's actually not that hard to get if someone can lay it down for you rite. Sometimes a simple anology can make an entire theory make sense instantly, after weeks of study that can be a bit fustrating occasionaly. Have you ever studied any "odd" topics?

I do read pop physics books if that's odd? I studied tarot for a while. I still study it off and on but don't feel I've ever really gotten the hang of reading them. Oh this is probably odd: human gestation and teratology. Odd for a lay person anyway.

I had my cards read for the first time ever in a smoky little goth bar over the summer. It brought me to tears(coulda been the vodka?).
I must say however he tapped into my head it was impressive. I've heard a genuine ability to preform readings is hereditary.
The seth material is so far mostly about esp, it touches often on how to "fine tune" already present ability....everyone has a little, some have alot, anyone can learn to use what they have to it's fullest potential. I suppose I qualify as one who has a little.

Thought if I bumped this up I might get some insite on what you think about the validity of esp. I figure if you felt strongly enough to study about it you probably have a good oppinion.

Ack, I never responded to this. I did mean to...really I did. I will try to do so now but I keep getting sent to frisk auntie so it may take a couple of tries...

I've had my cards read two or three times. Always by the same person who works at the store/school where I took the tarot classes. I think she was very accurate in her readings. I haven't been back for a few years now though. This because I go in and listen to her but I NEVER actually take her advice! I am too embarassed to go in anymore and tell her this again. I don't know if my life would really go smoother if I did what she says I should do. I just haven't been motivated or in some cases able to follow her advice

As far as ESP...hmm. I don't actually have a strong opinion about it. I guess I am comflicted about it. On the one hand I am sceptical about it. On the other hand I know people who have experienced it or are able to excercise it. I am not spiritually talented like some people seem to be, even though I am interested in the subject.

Now I'm motivated for some reason to go get my cards read agin. Something that cool should be possible. If we get gravitons(a sub atomic particle) we sohuld get ESP. There is a lady rite down the street form my work who has a sign in her window, maybe I'll pay her a visit on my lunch someday.
