So you are new too? It gets lonely round here, especially when you don't know anyone.
Currently bored and don't know what to do. how about you?

Hey Scrawl!
I am indeed brand new! And you're right, it can get a bit lonely so I have spent my 1st week as a member wading through as many articles as I can, trying deperately to see if what I write is half as funny/interesting!
I see that you too are a frustrated writer...HURRAH!
At the moment I am kicking around a sketch about a delusional talking toaster with plans to take over the world! It's slow going...

Maybe your toaster can team up with my hot kettle, he needs someone to soak up his continuously spouting of hot air.
Delusions you say, we're not deluded, we know we rule the world.

TheClaire Posted Mar 25, 2004
Yes the toaster and the kettle side by side in the total annihilation of mankind...umm with words obviously...I don't want to wipe out mankind...obviously
Anyway, how's it going? What have you been reading/writing recently?Anything you've read/enjoyed/thought sucked? Are you enjoying the site?
I've been quite lazy these past couple of days and have been reading comics...so I've decided to read at least 4 articles a day and make at least 4 comments! And write obviously!! Soon my inane babbling will spread to the farthest reaches of the internet! (cue crazy maniacal laughter!)

Pleased to hear from you again, thought you'd taken a dislike to me. Well you know how insecure us writers can be.
I have read a number of really good works here recently. I liked The Potting Shed and Mrs George Cannings. If you can't find them using the search I'll dig out their references for you.
I also put up a piece of my own fro review, see A2459234, so far I ahve not had much feedback but I guess it is early days yet.
Glad to hear you are overcoming the block and look forward to reading some of your work soon.

Hi Claire

Hey there!
I've been really pretty bad these last coupla days but for once it's not down to sheer laziness on my part: my computer went all kablooey on Friday and I have been stranded without one until i finally got it sorted! So now I am back with a vengence!
I haven't actually read your piece yet, I wanted to write back and assure you that I would not take a dislike to my first guide buddy!!
Once I've read it I'll drop you a line. But if you don't hear from me for another coupla days it may be my pile of junk computer's fault and not mine!!
I'll check out those articles you recommended too!
Keep writing

Hi Claire
Haven't heard from you, so I guess your PC died again.
How's the toaster story coming on I look forward to reading it. Hope you haven't been too busy

Hi Claire

Hey there!
Have not been busy, just in a lot of pain! Getting over an appendectomy! Ouch!
So I read your work! The one about the girl in the car (i forget it's name and when I went back to look at it again they had blocked it!) Didn't see that twist coming! (pardon the pun). Why did you decide to write it from the girl's point of view?
Also the other story was already blocked when I got there! What was it about? Do you get into trouble if they block you? Are you gonna write toned down versions?
The shaving one was just odd! I didn't realise you guys thought about that so much!
Not wanting to sound a bit pruddish but while I'm not a big fan of the subject matter, I think that you're a good writer and would quite like to read more of your stuff.
I'm still tip-toeing around putting up any of my stuff and am working on some tips that the Get Writing people gave me so we'll see!
But anyway, keep writing and posting and I'll keep reading!
Talk to you later

Hope the pain is dying down for you. Thank you for your comments the other day I'll try and answer some of your questions.
Writing from the girl's point of view? Hmm, I wanted to see if I could I suppose. But more than that I wanted to see if it would ring true as a girl's point of view. Don't know if I succeeded.
The other one was already blocked, yes they didn't like my stories much. The second one was a follow on from the girl in the car and probably not as good, sequels rarely are. Will I rewrite them toned down? No. I write what I want to write. The aim of these two pieces was to provoke discussion. I was surprised that someone was actually offended. But that's the world we live in I guess. If you really want to read it I'll email it to you, but it is more cheap titalation that serious writing.
Maybe I should explain the shaving one. It was written more as a note to myself on the main H2G2 site rather than a piece to publish on Get Writing. But well, it seems us blokes do think about these things. So to ask a personal question Do You? You don't have to answer that one.
On the question of subject matter, none of this so far is my normal writing. I wanted to try out a few new things and get some feedback, which I have done and received.
I'm not sure yet if I will post my serious stuff on here, maybe I will. If I don't and you want I can mail to you.
Well, thanks again for your comments, it's always good when people have nice things to say about your work. I look forward to reading yours sometime, stay in touch.
