LETS is not not the only equal time equal value system. Take a look at http://www.fairshares.org.uk/ which operates near me.

luvwotiz - or - Resistance Is Futile so be happy with NOW

"If someone performs a task which makes life better for everyone then I would want to reward that - the cleaner and dealer in waste products as much as the person who reassures me that my headache is not a brain tumour."
... and the nappy (diaper) changer I hope. Agreed Vestboy. Yet there would be less incentive to put in the massive effort required for some professions if there was not the extra reward. If you mean that for the LETS scheme we can all be on an equal footing, well that would be great as long as the professionals think it is worth their time.
It's similar to the Eastern religions' idea of serving others, except that the receiver gives tokens in exchange and therefore doesn't feel like they are inferior.
One problem with different rates of pay is the elitism it breeds and so the equality in LETS would be a great leveller if it becomes popular. I'm all in favour of an egalitarian society.

Luvwotiz

If we can't LOVE WHAT IS, then we are always fighting reality, a sad and frustrating life.
or... Resistance is futile.

Old Hairy, I mention Edgar Cahn in the piece. Fair Shares (which I will now mention in the article) is based on his Time Dollar system. I met him on one of his visits to the UK.

Baryonic Being - save GuideML out of a word-processor: A7720562

I very much enjoyed this entry. Well done!

Do you think such a scheme would work in families, i.e. between family members? Just a thought that popped into my head.

Small issues:
'The use of people to solve problems is the use of Social Capital" is missing a full stop.'

And you are missing a close-quote in the following sentence:

'This took off and now hundreds and hundreds of people in the area use "hours to get extra work done or buy extra food or whatever.'

Also, is the 'whatever' in the above sentence too informal for the Guide, do we think?

Are you still working on this, by the way?

Given that A200980 is already in the Edited Guide, why is this still in Peer Review?

It looks as if Vestboy created two entries on this topic, using his two separate accounts -- A129764 and A2420669 -- and submitted them both to Peer Review. Since one has already been selected, I've asked Vestboy previously to remove this extra entry from Peer Review, but that clearly hasn't happened.
