Hey Shaz 
I'm not you, and don't know what you've had to put up with. Nevertheless I just wanted to say 'try not to get down' 
- it does help to know that you are not alone 
- most people have shitty periods in their lives, but it isn't always obvious since people try and hide it.
When I was feeling like a failure I mentioned it at a meal and (thankfully) several friends immediately contradicted me and pointed out some of the things I had done - or could do.
Things *can* get better

Hey. Sorry I've taken so long to reply (my internet was cut off and other things were going on) but thank you. Things have got better. I've been seeing a counsellor (one of the many things my parents don't know about) and issues have been resolved. Some are still there, but a lot of anger and self hatred is gone. For good, I hope.

Sorry the previous reply was a bit short, but I was kicked off the machine I was using 
I just wanted to give you a bit of support. Whether you reply quickly or not I don't mind - the right to take a while to reply is one of the nice things about h2g2.
Glad the lifestyle is getting a bit better
