Saw you were Online and thought how nice it was to see a friendly face.
Nothing going on in the CB.
The usual quarrelling on R2.
How are things with you?

Hi Fly
I was just thinking about you! The MBs are not nice right now. I just put a post up on JV and that Gervais bloke has put a not so nice reply. I don't know whether to ignore him or press the complain button! I know not everyone agrees about everything but you don't have to be rude.
I thought of an author you may enjoy, her name is Elizabeth Buchan. The first one of hers I read was "Revenge Of The Middle Aged Woman" not really like it sounds. It came free with Woman And Home magazine a while ago. I've since red another called the "Good Wife".
My other half started to cut down a large conifer but was rained off. The garden was flooded it was so heavy!
I've hardly done anything this last week as I've felt so tired, I'll have to pull myself together! Hope your cold is better.
Speak to you soon
Love
Helen.

Good Morning, Helen
Oh, no it's p.m. by now.(12-25)
This is spooky. I'm halfway through "Revenge of the Middle Aged Woman", isn't that strange? A friend of mine lent it to me and then, yesterday afternoon I was looking through my books because I have to bring one to the Book Group this afternoon, and saw that I'd had it all the time. I used to have "Woman and Home" delivered to me, so I expect that's where it came from. I stopped my subscription because it annoyed me that new customers get the magazine a lot cheaper than old ones. So now and again I stop and then, after awhile join again at the cheaper rate. How mean can you get?
I haven't done anything either last week, I've been feeling so lethargic, I suppose from the cold. It's gone now but left me with blocked sinuses. I have tablets for that but they give me such a dry mouth and throat. Keep leaving them off to see if I'm better.
Friend of mine and I go on a shopping trip by coach tomorrow, somewhere we've never been, so that will be good.
Yes, the CB is really nasty most of the time. We used to have such fun without being downright vulgar, but now it's all insults and low-down humour. When I first joined we were having the funeral and the bonfire, do you remember? It was hilarious.
I feel a bit lost on here, it's much more a "one-to-one" thing, isn't it? Sometimes I look to see who is Online and see you and Jen are there, but it feels like butting into a private conversation. It's quite different to the CB.
Strange how one person can come along and spoil it all. I know he's not the only one but he started it all. Before him it was all good, daft fun.
So there, I've had my say. "Book group" this afternoon, we're discussing "Angela's Ashes".
Talk to you again soon.

Good morning Fly
That is really spooky about the book! How do do you like her? If you enjoyed it I can recommend the other one. I stopped having a magazine subscription because I found I never got them read but if I go out and buy them they do, mad I know!
How was your shopping trip did you get any bargains?
Have you seen 'Radio Reynolds' thread in the coffee bar? We had such fun doing it but when I re-read some of the bits my spelling and grammar are atrocious in places but I was making it up as I went along and didn't want it to get out of sequence, which for some reason happens when I send messages. They end up out of sequence and don't make any sense at all! If you read the 'Calling Jason Reynolds' thread first you'll see how it came about. I would have loved to be able to hear it as I think it could sound very funny.
How are you getting on with your fence and drains? I'm hopefull that someone is coming tonight to see if they can box in the hole made by new boiler in the kitchen. The Gas board just left it and no one wants to do it. I'm starting to get a bit depressed by it as you see it everytime you walk in to the room. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Well must go and post some cards.
See you later.

Afternoon, Helen,
Well, the shopping expedition wasn't an unqualified success. Weather bloody awful, but we enjoyed ourselves until we got back on the coach to go home.
One very old lady didn't turn up. Driver kept looking for her, other passengers started looking for her (you couldn't mistake her, the way she was dressed). They couldn't find her and after more than an hour and notifying the police we went home without her. But my friend was furious, she felt we shouldn't have waited. I wasn't very happy either but thought it was just one of those unavoidable things. So, nothing to do but try and relax and wait.Friend kept saying: "Never again! Never again!."
Oh dear!
I didn't find any bargains but came back with three new books, one of them"The Good Wife", and this morning I bought another book, the latest by Marika Cobbold. I can't wait!
I was so happy thinking of all those books waiting for me and now realise there are SIX of them lined up beside my bed. Haven't really got time to sleep.
And tomorrow I MUST do some housework, my mind's made up.
I did see most of the "Radio Reynolds" thread and I thought it was so funny. Wished I could join in, but it was going too well for that.
I know what you mean about messages arriving out of sequence, it happens all the time, doesn't it, and only you know what you're talking about.
I had some potatoes boiling for a potato-salad, just had a look and there's very little left of them.!! Time flies when you're enjoying yourself.
I keep thinking it's Friday to-day.
See you soon

Hello Fly,
Gosh you had a rather eventful shopping trip! It's awful when someone is thoughtless and worries everyone. I don't suppose anyone will find out what happened to her.
I'm glad it's not just me that has been totally confused with the days this week! I must be going senile! I was convinced it was Thursday yesterday! next week will probably be just as bad. I'm just glad I wasn't on the M6 today my husband reckoned the jam was around 70 miles if the travel report was correct!
Looks like we have a man to fix the hole and he's coming next Thursday! I won't celebrate until it's done though.
I don't know Marika Cobbold, I'll check her out when I next go to the bookstore.
It's a football night for the other half, Newcastle v PSV Eindhoven. Of course that was Bobby Robson's team once, so hard for him.
Maybe see you in the CB later.

Hello Helen,
Was the football match on T.V.? I didn't know, otherwise I'd have watched it. Eindhoven is where I come from and Bobby Robson was so very popular when he was manager there, they all loved him.
According to the paper it wasn't an altogether friendly match, was it? Referee trouble, I understood.
Glad the hole is being fixed. All these things are so tiresome, aren't they? When I had all my trouble with drains and fence etc. I kept reminding myself that my husband used to say: "Don't get into such a state..it's not a matter of life or death, is it?" I think it was the only thing that kept me sane. Friends said: "I don't know how you cope", but then, what else can you do? And now it's all over.
Just wish a fairy would come along and do the gardening. The WEEDS!!! And it's too cold to sit there weeding. (I think).
Let's pretend we're in the CB and find a quiet corner for a nice
Hope you'll have a lovely Easter!!

Hello Fly
Hope you had a nice Easter. Still seems like all the days are muddled to me!
Sorry we beat your team last night but the other half is ecstatic! I hate to say it but I can remember when Newcastle last won the Euro cup and it was a long time ago! Bobby Robson is like a hero up in Newcastle so I hope they can win something for him.
The message boards are strange at the moment so I'm not saying too much in case it's taken the wrong way.
How are you getting on with your books? I have started another E Buchan, Secrets of the Heart but have only read a few pages as I was so tired last night. I was out shopping yesterday but walked straight past the bookshop yesterday as I've loads to read and I would have been tempted I know!
Hope all well with you.
Helen.

Hiya Helen and
What a show of self-discipline! Am seriously impressed! Me and Matt can't walk past a book shop. My 'to read' pile is growing and growing in equal proportion to my diminishing bank balance!
I second-hand bookshops!

Hi Helen,
Had written you a long message, pressed "Post Message" and whooshhh, it disappeared and I found myself in Radio Rewind. Goodness knows what happened. And then I had to go and watch Rick Stein, I really like him and his funny dog.
Had a very good Easter, thank you. Did you?
Yes, the message boards are a bit strange at the moment, wonder if the'll ever be back to normal, whatever that was!! I just assumed that when I first joined, last November, that's how it had been for a long time, everybody seemed to know each other so well.
I found PP's page in the end, wonderful photo's and aren't people always quite different to what you imagine they'll look like. I sent him an e-mail but I don't have a web-cam (thank goodness). My picture would frighten his dogs!!
Although I had my hair cut yesterday, found this fabulous hairdresser who works for herself and comes to the house. She is brilliant. My style is a bit like Gillian Tailforth (at least the latest picture I saw of her), but my hair is much thicker than hers so it looks a bit different. By rights I should have no hair at all because I've messed about with colours and bleaches all my life, one day I bleached it in the morning, didn't like it, put a darker colour on, didn't like that either and so I bleached it again! All in one day! I always colour it myself and now bought a highlight-kit, not with a net that you pull the hair through, but with a brush to apply the highlights with.
At the moment I'm reading "Tall Poppies" by Louise Bagshawe, it's an unusual book about "girl-power", very interesting, but I'm glad I'm not a high-flyer like that-too much stress.
I look into the boards quite a lot and am always impressed by your knowledge of music, it must be wonderful to have such a good memory.
Wasn't it awful on R2 yesterday?
See you again soon,
Hope this goes through this time.

Hello Fly
What a miserable day it's been up here today, it's throwing it down now. I had problems posting here this morning I had replied to Jen and it just disappeared so had to do it again like you.
Had a peep at the CB and it seems that SC has gone for good. I wonder what will happen now? I think when you came on a few of us had migrated from JV's board as we'd become a bit rowdy for them at times! I'd been on the CB on occasions but not all that often. The atmosphere was great then maybe it will return. I think we all need to make an effort to go back soon. I'll be interested to see what happens when JV returns as Dalek has gone since.
I like Gillian T's hairstyle. Mine is a cross between Lulu (shorter version) and Kirsty Young. I'm looking for a new hairdresser but haven't found one up to now. You are brave to try highlights yourself! I saw the ad on TV but thought it looked a bit complicated.
I've loved music since childhood and have probably spent far to much time listening to radio and records! My Dad had a dance band when I was tiny so there was always music on. I suppose you could say I was brought up on a diet of Frank Sinatra and the like. I'd love to have done something on radio but you can dream can't you! Sally Traffic's job would be just up my street. The nearest I got was to close the breakfast show woth Noel Edmunds when they did it from Newcastle Airport many years ago. They were leaving by helicopter so I did a roadshow departure announcement that sounded like a flight departure call. It was great fun!
Well I must get back to making the tea as the other half will be in soon. Have a nice weekend!
Helen

Hi Helen,
Yes, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that announcement about Scott. Strangely enough the message has now disappeared from R2 and CB boards, so people will wonder what's happened to him.
We'll see what happens now.
You? Rowdy? I can't imagine it.
It's a pity you didn't have the opportunity to be in radio, if that 's what you wanted to do. But, it's never too late!!
I like the girlwho does the traffic in the morning when Terry Wogan is on and I'm wondering whether I ought to get up.. Is her name Fran Godfrey? She has a lovely voice and is always very quick with her repartee, don't you think? But she must work horrible hours.
When I was a little girl my dad played a banjo!!!I don't think I've ever seen anybody else play one, except "whatsisname" "when I'm cleaning windows" You would know.
Wonder if SC has gone off to headbutt a few people!
See you soon,
XX
