I am afraid I have to tolerate that impostor, especially as he has more money than me.

My Grandfather originated from Caithness in the far North of Scotland. He emigrated to Liverpool at the beginning of the last century. After WWII my Father went a step further an moved across the Mersey to the posh side of the river where I now live in Cheshire.

My father always pronounced films - fillems. I didn't understand where he got it from till I first went to Belfast and discovered that they all pronounce it that way there.

Then you will know all about the Irish Liverpudlians then. There has always been a large contingent of them, at least since the potato famine emigrations. That's probably where your Scottish Grandfather got his 'fillems' from.
Have you read my personal space? If not, you will discover a 'Snap',( as in the card game for kids). I haven't written much on h2g2, but what I have done will appeal to your own knowledge of Liverpool and the Wirral.
My wife's brother and sister-in-law live in Thingwall, and her parents lived in Heswall. We live in Mid-Cheshire, and I am originally from Runcorn
