It's odd, having a desktop again. Nice big screen, though. It came with Windows 7, so I decided to make it dual boot. (If it had come with XP I'd have wiped it.) I'll probably use Windows occasionally for checking whether websites work in IE. And perhaps for HeidiSQL. There is a version which runs on GNU/Linux, called jHeidi, but it's not as good. If anyone knows an alternative, please let me know.

MySQL workbench? -- http://www.mysql.com/products/workbench/

And you really should have installed Debian.

It's much better than Ubuntu

I'm going to have to move this computer. The wireless signal is very weak here. And, every time it loses the connection, it forgets the password and I have to type it in again.

I'll have a look at MySQL Workbench. Thanks, Taliesin.

Maybe wicd can help. I've installed it on a number of laptops, and it is much more stable, and easier to configure

http://wicd.sourceforge.net/

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install wicd

(It may remove your current network manager)

smiley - cool

Not currently installed on mine. I favour Mint over Ubuntu.

I must admit I like having a big screen and now hate the smaller screens at school!

I moved it upstairs and plugged it into the router directly using a LAN cable. So much more stable than wireless.

The signals are going through copper wires instead of flying through the air. This is more reliable. I had to move my computer to a different room to allow this.

It's rofl: smiley - rofl but laugh: smiley - laugh. That always mixes me up.

My wireless signal isn't great, I don't think the giant iron girder holding my room up helps much.smiley - smiley
